Before I created the cathedral inspired pieces, I created a sequence of colourful patterns. I did this by using one triangle and repeating and layering it. I got the idea of this from the cathedral windows. I didn't decide to go ahead with these pieces because I personally thought they looked sloppy. I wanted to create something versatile. Something good to look at and would because a progression.

These are my first attempts of my cathedral inspired patterns. I used sections of the stained glass windows to create different patterns. I decided to use the shape of a triangle because it distorted the images well and I could put the triangles in to different shapes. 

I did enjoy making these patterns but because I used Illustrator instead of photoshop the quality of the pieces weren't as good as they could have been. This is the reasoning for making my own hand drawn patterns. What I like about these patterns are the repetitiveness in colours and the kaleidoscope effect that happens when put together in circular patterns.
