Orla Kiely

Orla Kiely designs are very simplistic, using a varied use of the flower and petal design. Whether its filling the negative space with contrasting colours or having the bold prints in the resembling colours to plants. her prints are widely noticeable and very beautiful because of there smooth lines and versatile uses.

Orla kiely's textiles have been inspiration to my pattern designs. I have chosen to use a picture I have taken in the local cathedral that mimics the flower design of Orla's work. I have traced the image within Adobe Illustrator and taken it apart and made several different pattern designs, in colour and in black and white. I hope to transfer these on to fabrics to get a realistic view of my work. rather than seeing it on screen.
